Bye-Bye Silver Maple

After 4 tree bids, and many months to allow for the backyard to dry out...The day was here.  Tree removal day! Yes, BORING you say. I agree, unless you are almost 3.  If you were almost three you enjoyed EVERY DAY of  "Big Giant RED FIRE TRUCKS" in your back yard.  You also would have enjoyed the "Tree guys" with their bucket truck and "Chain Saw."

The goal- remove giant Silver Maple and remove tree that would smush our neighbor's house.  Grind stump, 6 other stumps in the back and all roots that cause CC and I to trip and fall.  Really this was a pretty big job. All in all it took 4 working days (there was a weekend of no work) to remove the silver maple tree and other tree, then almost a full day of grinding.

On Day 2, this tree halted tree removal due to breaking the "big giant" chain saw. By big giant, we are talking a rail that was 3ft or so long. REALLY BIG, and the tree blew the motor. This tree did not want to go quietly.

On Day 3, it rained. We were able to get 90% of the neighbor squishing tree removed. Also, they heaved out all big giant logs created by stumpy. So then we were left with this:

All in all big Giant Silver Maple Tree is gone. We have weathered a few more nasty storms and it has been nice to not have to worry about that monster falling on us.  It took awhile, but we ended up having over 7 stumps removed, 10 big root clusters, and 2 trees removed. We are now in the process of trying to decide what is the next step for our yard.  First up, remove all wood shavings and plant some grass!
